What’s Happening this Week at FBC?

Tonight, we have our regular Wednesday mid-week schedule. Some of our school year programs are beginning to wind down, but we have a full schedule tonight. Join us for a meal beginning as early as 4:45 p.m. At 6:00, for our mid-week service, we will have a brief quarterly church conference. We will share with you our financial statement for the first quarter as well as elect messengers to the annual Southern Baptist Convention. Following that brief time of meeting, I have invited Dr. David Carlton to share with us the latest happenings of the Evangeline Baptist Association, our local partnership of Southern Baptist churches.

Sunday is going to be an exciting day of worship as we dedicate parents of children to the LORD. That’s right—a Parent/Child Dedication Service is much more about the dedication of parents than children. Pray for each of these families as they commit themselves before the LORD this coming Sunday.

I am always sensitive to the fact that Mother’s Day brings as many unpleasant feelings as pleasant feelings. So, if Sunday is a difficult day for you for whatever reason, know that we are praying for you.

We are continuing our series Sunday on the parables of Jesus. In this series called “Come and Listen,” Sunday we are considering the parable of the Persistent Widow recorded in Luke 18:1-8.

As we approach Sunday, please join me in doing four things.

1. Pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit to be obvious in each of our services.
2. Go to our website, fbclaf.org/compassion and register for the Compassion Experience. Remember the Compassion Experience will be open for you to visit on May 18-21 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
3. Go to our website, fbclaf.org/vbs and register your child for Vacation Bible School. This year’s VBS is for students who have completed 1st through 6th grades.
4. Go to choraleacadienne.com/tickets and purchase tickets for the concert Jubliate Deo which we are hosting on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. and includes multiple choirs, including our choir.

See You Sunday! Your mother would want you to be in church!
