Usually, I write in the middle part of the week about happenings of the week at our church, FBC, Lafayette. Today, I want to call your attention to “What’s Happening” the rest of the month and beyond. We are hosting a number of exciting opportunities for our church as well as the community.
February 16-17—Louisiana Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Training
In times of disaster, you have seen the “yellow shirts.” These yellow shirts identify the relief efforts of the Southern Baptist Convention. In fact, Southern Baptists provide more volunteers in times of disaster relief than either the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army. We have the opportunity to host a training event on this Friday and Saturday. Now is the best time to be trained. As in all good preparation, we must be prepared in advance. If you have interest in becoming trained, this event is for you. For information or to register online go to fbclaf.org/relief.
February 23—New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Senior Fest
We are super excited to host this event. The Seminary is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. This half-day (8:00 a.m. – noon) Senior Fest is one of their celebration events. The Seminary’s president, Dr. Chuck Kelley, will preach during a worship service. Several professors are coming to lead break-out sessions on a variety of subjects. Registration is $12. Make sure you get your ticket by Sunday, February 11. For details go to fbclaf.org/seniorfest.
On Saturday, March 10, we will host M-JAM for girls in grades 1-6. Girls from across South Louisiana will gather for a day of worship, mission study, and fun. Find out more about this event at fbclaf.org/m-jam.
